Artbreeder generates and evolves images by blending existing visuals together, letting users ""breed"" images by mixing content, style, and genetic-style parameters. It's been used by writers, game designers, and worldbuilders to create characters and environments since 2019.
The platform's approach differs from prompt-based tools: instead of describing what you want, you blend what already exists. Portrait generation, landscape creation, and concept art exploration work particularly well in this format. The community shares images that other users can use as breeding stock for their own generations.
The blending interface takes getting used to, but experienced users produce highly original results. The tool is less suited to precise creative briefs and more suited to exploratory visual development where unexpected combinations are welcome.
